Joseph Beuys was a restless apostle of ‘social plastic’.
Of art that percolates the entire society and allows any ‘man as artist’ to freely shape not only material objects but also sheer social relations.
In order to develop and promote his ideas, together with Heinrich Böll, he founded the Free International University and Free International Higher School of Creativity and Interdisciplinary Research. WUW refers to their tradition. We are going to take a closer look at his work on the example of several classic realisations juxtaposed with his social and political practice and consider their validity for our contemporary ‘here and now’. For that matter, we are going to use Jacques Ranciere philosophical workshop, which is to be mastered during the ‘Art workman’s readers’.
is an art curator and critic working at Muzeum Sztuki (Art Museum) in Łódź.
